shetland stitches!

feeling sick of these winter storms, & also all the leftover snow...cowls are my push for spring & more spring-like knits!
i ended up knitting this shetland stitch, called feather & fan cowl, after finishing off a similar scarf, & having a small bit of leftover yarn.


here is the basic shetland pattern (for straight needles & for the long scarf), its is such a pretty lacy pattern, that achieves wonderful scalloped edges
(when using circulars, i used 11US circulars remember that row 2 will be knit & row 4 is actually purl)

CO 36 sts. (double amount of stitches for cowl on circulars)

Row1: Knit
Row2: Purl
Row3: *K2tog 3times, (YO, knit one ) six times, K2tog 3times*. Repeat across the row.
Row4:Knit.
